Aniello 006 Malbec 2019

006 Malbec 2022

Aniello

What you might call a handsome lunchtime Malbec; not because it is ‘light’ as such, more due to its wonderful freshness and refreshing personality. It looks and noses very much as you would expect of the Argentine classic – very dark in colour and fairly brooding in aroma, yet with a lifted aromatic quality reminiscent of dried flowers and herbs and, most importantly, gorgeous acidity on the palate. We’ve tasted lots of Patagonian Malbecs, most from the larger Neuquen area, but this wine from Río Negro is head and shoulders above the rest.

“This is salty with dried berry and flower character. Full body, firm and silky tannins and a fresh finish. Savory. Drink now.”

91 / 100, James Suckling (2015 vintage)

… a fruit-driven and fresh version of Malbec fermented in cement vats and matured in used barrels. There are some floral aromas and notes of black cherries, with good ripeness, intensity and spiciness. The palate is juicy with very round, sweet tannins and very good freshness. This is a very nice Malbec at a very attractive price.”
