atamisque petit verdot 2019
Atamisque
For those who stubbornly still associate Argentina with soft, velvet-textured ‘fruit bombs’, here’s a wine that will force some serious revaluation. Being Petit Verdot, it was always going to be big and powerful, but in the wrong hands it could also have been hard and mean or, worse still, jammy and over-oaked. Happily, this fantastic beast carries off the perfect combination of muscle and poise. Wonderful notes of roses and graphite on the nose precede a palate full of fine red fruit character with lovely firm tannins and long, pepper and spice-laden finish.
