benegas-lynch malbec 2018
Benegas
Buckle yourselves in for a Malbec roller-coaster ride. The wine is virtually black in colour, the nose a swirling delight of dark fruits, savoury notes and dried flowers. To say it is bold in the mouth is an under-statement and, to be perfectly honest, it drinks much better after at least five years in bottle, but it’s pretty irresistible in youth too. A great wine from the top range here, where the name Benegas takes on its double-barrel eloquence and authority – Benegas-Lynch, with a connection to that great Bordeaux producer, albeit a somewhat dim and distant one.
93/100 points, Tim Atkin’s Argentina Report 2023 (2020 vintage)
