Matervini

An unashamedly ‘big’, robust white wine that’s quite old-school in some respects, and yet depicts with great clarity just how far Argentina has come in recent years in terms of white wines. This is a blend mainly of Marsanne with a small proportion of Viognier; only a partial malolactic fermentation, extended skin contact, concrete egg fermentation and old, almost neutral oak for maturation (50% for 11 months). The nose is a delight with lots of minerality but also ripe peach and melon. The palate is truly rich in texture yet with bracing acidity on the finish suggesting great rewards for patience. Already a complex wine, with hints of crushed almonds, chamomile and mixed spices on the finish.
