We are keen to emphasise that this is NOT an orange wine; it is a Skin Contact wine. There isn’t the slightest hint of oxidation here and that – after all – is the main factor in making an orange wine look, well, orange! On the contrary, this wine is bright and clear in appearance with the most beautifully pure and clean aromatic profile. The grape skins are kept with the must for a couple of days’ cold soak pre-fermentation, and they stay with the juice both during the ferment and then for a few days afterwards before the new wine is racked off. The result is a joy!

On the nose you will find some of the unmistakable floral notes so typical of Viognier, but framed with tantalising aromas of mandarin, peach and – oh the irony! – oranges. And the wine is wonderfully refreshing on the palate with super-lively acidity, not at all ‘oily’ in texture as Viognier is often prone to be. For fun we have also applied a big orange label to the bottle. This is quite simply one of the most exciting white wines we have bought in many a year.
