Fantasia sauvignon blanc 2022
Mauricio Lorca
As recently as only a few years ago there seemed to be widespread scepticism about New World Sauvignon Blanc from just about anywhere other than New Zealand. Times change, and with an increasingly tall wave of cracking white wines coming in from Argentina, it’s no surprise that Sauvignon is finding its footing in the market. It’s wrong and misleading to over-generalise but it’s probably fair to say that in general Argentina examples of this grape tend to be less aromatically exuberant than their Kiwi counterparts, and less ‘ripe’ in style than those from Chile. This excellent example from Mauricio Lorca shows plenty of gooseberry and green citrus on the nose with vibrant balancing acidity and impressive length.
