Mauricio has done us a favour here. This wine is actually of a quality level that the winery would normally reserve for a higher price tag, but we really wanted it to complete the Recoleta range with a serious, full-bodied red. The purple colour is a clear indication of the aromas and flavours to come; dark! This is a surprisingly robust, chunky red from Argentina’s most under-rated varietal. This is not the same grape as the Bonarda we know from from Italy; it is actually Corbeau, originally from the Jura in France. How it came to be known as Bonarda, who knows, who cares? Just a great little wine.
