Winery and Vineyards – Cariñena

happy families, happy days…

Bodegas Esteban Martin is a family-owned business founded in 2003 by Miguel Antonio Esteban and Asunción Martin. From the very start, the winery has always believed in caring for the environment and has pioneered the use of different sustainable practices for growing grapes. The winery is located at the foot of the Sierra de Algairén mountains – part of the Iberian System Mountain range – in the province of Zaragoza and owns some 400 hectares of vineyards. In 1985, Miguel Antonio Esteban decided to purchase 150 hectares of vineyards on the best land in the Cariñena PDO region. He acquired new plots of land year after year, before deciding to build his own winery in 2003.

Today, Esteban Martin have grown to 400 hectares of vineyards and boast state-of-the-art facilities and technology. However, they have not lost sight of the importance of tradition, know-how and responsibility. The day-to-day operations at the winery now involve three generations of the family, whose main values are quality, excellence and innovation, environmental sustainability and a genuine love for the land.

Enologist, Jorge Barberia, who was born in Cariñena and has been making wine in different parts of the world for 10 years, is a lover of the wines of his region near the Valle del Ebro, where Garnacha originated with its particular characteristics owing to the climate and soils. For Jorge, the most important part of his job is his work in the vineyard. “Esteban Martin wines are fresh and fruity with a good balance on the palate, smooth and silky tannins. Wines with soul” says Jorge, adding “they have enormous success in tastings and competitions around the world.

Passion, terroir and personality are clearly reflected in each bottle, a blend of modernity and know-how to reach their ultimate expression.
