Ulula Organic Garnacha Syrah 2024

Esteban Martin

From vines of 20 – 65 years old planted on limestone soils with rocky substrates at around 700 metres above sea level in the rolling hills of Cariñena, the team at Esteban Martin have pulled a gorgeous little plum out of the bag with this delicious blend of Garnacha and Syrah. Interestingly, the malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels with battonage over white wine lees for three months, perhaps partly explaining the wine’s spritely freshness. Dark purple in the glass with blue glints and with a nose awash with cassis, pepper, subtle spices and flowers, there is a lot to like here. The texture is silky, body on the light side of medium, and nicely woven through with soft tannins and the most judicious use of oak. A cracking wine from a producer that is proudly organic and 100% certified sustainable.

“Beautiful fresh strawberry juice… this wine is full of fruit… It would be great chilled down on a hot day or at a barbecue.”
