Overground Pinot Noir 2018

Overground Pinot Noir 2018

Viña Progreso

The pale garnet colour is the first good sign! So often we find southern hemisphere Pinot dark and over-extracted and thus lacking typicity. Not so here. The nose is distinctly Pinot, with lots of fragrant red fruits, then there are enchanting notes of mushroom, soft cheese and even a touch of almond. The texture in the mouth is excellent; fresh and lean with well-balanced acidity to complement the fruit. The wine has a wild, untamed quality that we like very much and along with the other varietals in this range, it shows there is so much more to Uruguay than Tannat.

“Dried strawberry, bark, clove and orange zest on the nose. It’s medium bodied with fine tannins and tangy acidity. Fresh and zesty. Very pretty tension and focus at the end with hints of smoke and cedar. Drink now.”
